What is Xtream Codes?
It is a way of logging in, not a company or a service you subscribe to. Understanding that clears up most of the confusion around it.
What the three fields mean
- Host or server URL. Where your provider's panel lives, for example http://example.com:8080.
- Username. Your account on that panel.
- Password. The matching password. Together these are your whole subscription.
Because those three fields are the entire subscription, treat them like a password. Anyone who has them can use your connections, which is a common reason people suddenly hit their
connection limit.
Xtream login versus an M3U link
| | M3U link | Xtream login |
| What it is | One long URL containing a fixed list | Host, username and password |
| Channel list | Fixed at the moment it was generated | Live from the server |
| Programme guide | Sometimes, via a separate XMLTV link | Usually built in |
| Movies and series | Rarely | Usually, with artwork |
| Catch up | No | Where the provider offers it |
Using one in RunTV
Open Sources, choose Xtream Codes, and paste the host, username and password your provider gave you. Your channels, guide, movies and series appear. If you own more than one login, add them all and RunTV spreads your streams across them, always inside each account's own limit.

Frequently asked
What is Xtream Codes?
Xtream Codes is a panel format used by many IPTV providers. Instead of one long playlist link, you get a server address, a username and a password, and the player asks the server what is available.
Is Xtream Codes a provider?
No. It is software providers run, so "I use Xtream Codes" means your provider uses that panel. The channels come from your provider, not from Xtream Codes.
What is the difference between Xtream Codes and M3U?
An M3U link is a fixed list. An Xtream login is a live conversation with the server, so the player can also fetch categories, the guide, and movies and series. Most providers offer both.
Which should I use, M3U or Xtream?
Xtream if your provider offers it. You get the guide, catch up, and movies and series, which a plain M3U link usually cannot provide.
Is Xtream Codes legal?
The format itself is just software, the same as a web server. What matters is whether the provider you use has the rights to what it carries. RunTV supplies no channels and takes no position on your provider.
